New breathing method may keep kids safer during surgery intubation

NCT ID NCT06425406

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether a high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) can prevent dangerously low oxygen levels in children during the critical moment when anesthesia stops their breathing before a breathing tube is placed. The trial will enroll 48 healthy children aged 2-10 years undergoing surgery. Researchers will measure how long it takes for oxygen levels to drop, comparing standard care to HFNC.
