Scientists hunt for Parkinson's genes in families

NCT ID NCT02511015

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at 31 people with early-onset Parkinson's disease (starting before age 50) and their healthy family members to find genetic mutations that cause the disease. Researchers collected blood and skin samples to grow cells in the lab and study how these genetic changes affect cell health. The goal was to better understand the disease's genetic causes, not to test a treatment.
