Scientists probe hidden cause of dangerous heart surgery clots
NCT ID NCT04299828
Summary
This study aims to understand why some patients develop abnormal blood clots during and after heart surgery using a heart-lung bypass machine. Researchers will measure immune cell activity and inflammatory signals in the blood of 100 patients of all ages undergoing complex heart surgery. The goal is to learn if these immune cells contribute to clot formation, which could help improve future treatments.
