Heart attack prevention: can two drugs beat one?

NCT ID NCT06767345

Summary

This study compares two common cholesterol-lowering approaches to see which better stabilizes dangerous plaque buildup in heart arteries. It will follow 408 adults with coronary artery disease for one year, using advanced heart imaging to measure changes in plaque. The goal is to determine if a moderate-strength statin plus a second drug (ezetimibe) works as well as a high-strength statin alone at making plaque less likely to rupture and cause a heart attack or stroke.
