New MRI technique could improve heart damage assessment

NCT ID NCT06814587

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study is testing a new type of MRI scan that looks at how the heart uses energy. Researchers want to see if this scan can tell how much heart muscle is still working in people with severe heart disease. The study will compare the new MRI with standard PET and SPECT scans in 15 people (6 healthy volunteers and 9 heart disease patients before and after bypass surgery). The goal is to learn if the new scan gives useful information about heart muscle health, not to treat the disease.
