Brain fluid pressure linked to irregular heartbeat in heart failure study

NCT ID NCT07521293

First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at 309 older adults with a type of heart failure (HFpEF) to see if fluid pressure in the brain is linked to atrial fibrillation (AFib), an irregular heartbeat. Researchers used a simple eye ultrasound to measure brain pressure and found that higher pressure was more common in those with AFib. The goal was to better understand how heart and brain health interact, not to test a treatment.
