Heart attack breakthrough? new 'Leave-Nothing-Behind' balloon treatment tested against standard stents
NCT ID NCT06742125
Summary
This study is testing whether a newer, 'leave-nothing-behind' treatment using a drug-coated balloon is as good as the standard treatment using a drug-eluting stent for people having a major heart attack (STEMI). Researchers will enroll about 1,244 patients across China and randomly assign them to receive one of the two treatments. The main goal is to see if the balloon treatment is not worse than the stent at preventing death, another heart attack, stroke, or the need for more procedures within a year.
