Hearing aids may cut dementia risk in seniors

NCT ID NCT07288463

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether over-the-counter hearing aids are practical and acceptable for older adults who have hearing loss and a higher genetic risk for dementia. About 20 people aged 50 and older with mild-to-moderate hearing loss will either start using hearing aids right away or wait a few months. The goal is to see if this approach could help more people get hearing care and potentially protect their brain health.
