Blood clot breakthrough: new plug may help smokers heal after tooth pulls

NCT ID NCT07364890

First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests whether a plug made from a patient's own blood (Advanced Platelet-Rich Fibrin) can improve healing after tooth extraction in smokers. Twelve smokers who need two teeth pulled will have one socket treated with the plug and the other left to heal naturally. The goal is to see if the plug reduces socket size and complications.
