Hepatitis b breakthrough? study tests if 'Undetectable equals Untransmissible' holds true
NCT ID NCT07449091
First seen Mar 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looks at whether people with chronic hepatitis B who have undetectable virus levels in their blood also have undetectable virus in other body fluids like saliva or semen. If true, it could support the message that undetectable means untransmissible (U=U) for hepatitis B, reducing stigma and fear of spreading the virus. The study includes 55 adults: some on long-term treatment with suppressed virus, some untreated with high or low viral loads, and a small group without hepatitis B for comparison.
