New drug combo may reduce deadly transplant complication in blood cancer patients

NCT ID NCT01231412

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 174 adults with blood cancers who received a stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor. Researchers compared different combinations of immune-suppressing drugs to find the best way to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a serious complication where donor cells attack the patient's body. The goal was to reduce severe GVHD while still allowing the transplant to work.
