Summary
This study follows 300 people having weight-loss (metabolic) surgery to see how their gut bacteria change and how that affects heart health and diabetes. Researchers collect stool, blood, and tissue samples before and up to 3 years after surgery. The goal is to learn which gut microbes help improve health after surgery, especially in African Americans who face higher rates of heart disease.
