First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at the gut bacteria of 1,757 people who had colon polyps or colorectal cancer in the past. The goal was to find bacterial markers that could predict who is at high risk for new polyps or cancer. Researchers hope this leads to a simple stool test that could replace some colonoscopies for screening.
