First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at gut bacteria and related chemicals in people who have both inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and depression. Researchers want to find unique patterns that might explain why these two conditions often occur together. The study involves 120 adults divided into three groups: those with both IBD and depression, those with IBD only, and healthy volunteers. No treatment is given—the goal is simply to learn more about the connection.
