Scientists search for hidden gut damage in ICU patients
NCT ID NCT07440368
Summary
This study aims to better understand gut injury in critically ill patients by measuring a specific protein released from damaged intestinal cells. Researchers will observe 500 adult ICU patients, collecting blood and urine samples to see if levels of this protein correlate with the severity of gut problems and patient outcomes. The goal is to find a more objective way to measure gut damage, which could help doctors identify different types of sepsis in the future.
