Gut bugs linked to pancreatic cancer spread – new clues found

NCT ID NCT07161921

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study looked at whether the bacteria in your gut can help predict if pancreatic cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. Researchers compared stool samples from 55 patients with and without lymph node spread. They found certain gut bacteria and chemicals that were different between the two groups. The goal is to create a simple test to identify high-risk patients before surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed observational study with only 55 participants. The findings may not apply to all patients and need much larger studies to confirm.
