Hormone blockers and letrozole tested to spare uterus in early endometrial cancer
NCT ID NCT06379113
First seen Sep 10, 2026 · Last updated Sep 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers are testing a combination of a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist injection and the drug letrozole in obese women with early-stage endometrial cancer that has not responded to progestin. The goal is to see if this hormone-blocking approach can shrink tumors and allow women to avoid surgery, preserving fertility. Participants receive the injection every four weeks for up to six courses, plus daily letrozole, with regular checks to measure response.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist injection combined with the oral drug letrozole
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this combination could offer women with early endometrial cancer a way to clear the disease without surgery, preserving the uterus and fertility.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is small and early, so results may not hold in larger groups. Hormone-blocking treatment can cause menopause-like side effects, and some cancers may not respond.
