Weight-Loss drug shows promise for brain pressure condition

NCT ID NCT06027567

First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tested whether a weight-loss drug (semaglutide) combined with a very low-calorie diet could help people with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), a condition where high brain pressure causes headaches and vision problems. 38 adults with new-onset IIH and obesity were randomly assigned to either standard diet counseling or the drug plus an 800-calorie diet for 10 months. The main goals were to see changes in weight and brain pressure. The results could offer a new treatment option for managing IIH through weight loss.
