Could blocking GLP-1 stop dangerous low blood sugar in type 1 diabetes?

NCT ID NCT07373236

First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at whether blocking a hormone called GLP-1 can help people with type 1 diabetes release glucagon, a natural safeguard against low blood sugar. Researchers gave 12 adults with type 1 diabetes a substance to block GLP-1 and measured their glucagon levels during low blood sugar. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce the risk of severe hypoglycemia, a common and dangerous complication.
