New study unlocks clues to preventing low blood sugar in diabetes
NCT ID NCT06881472
First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at how two natural substances—GIP (a gut hormone) and alanine (an amino acid from protein)—work together to trigger glucagon release, which raises blood sugar. Researchers tested 10 people with and without type 1 diabetes to see if combining them boosts glucagon more than either alone. The goal is to learn how this might help prevent dangerous low blood sugar in diabetes.
