Summary

This study tests whether a newer drug called vonaprazan (at 10 mg or 20 mg daily) works better than the standard drug esomeprazole (40 mg daily) for healing moderate-to-severe acid reflux damage in the esophagus. About 414 adults with GERD will take one of the three treatments for 8 weeks. The main goal is to see how many people's esophagus lining heals completely, and the study also tracks symptom improvement and side effects.
