New acid reflux drug shows promise in healing esophagus damage

Summary

This study tests two doses of vonaprazan (10 mg and 20 mg) against esomeprazole (40 mg) to see which heals moderate-to-severe acid reflux damage in the esophagus after 8 weeks. About 414 adults with confirmed reflux esophagitis will take one pill daily. The goal is to find a more effective treatment for heartburn and regurgitation.
