New genetic testing could solve mystery of unexplained intellectual disability

Summary

This study compared two approaches to genetic testing for intellectual disability. Researchers tested whether whole genome sequencing (analyzing all genetic material) could find more causes of intellectual disability than current standard tests. The study included 1,275 children and adults with unexplained intellectual disability, along with their biological parents, to see which testing method provided more answers.
