Genetic test could spare leukemia patients from unnecessary strong drugs

Summary
This study aims to see if a genetic test can help doctors decide which leukemia patients need a powerful antifungal drug to prevent serious mold infections during chemotherapy. About 410 adults with acute myeloid leukemia will have their DNA tested. Based on their genetic risk, they will be assigned to receive either a standard or a stronger antifungal medication to see which strategy works best.
