Genetic test could target lifesaving fungal drugs to leukemia patients who need them most

NCT ID NCT03828773

Summary

This study aims to see if a genetic test can help doctors decide which leukemia patients should receive a stronger antifungal drug to prevent dangerous mold infections during chemotherapy. About 410 adults with acute myeloid leukemia will be tested for a specific genetic marker. Based on their genetic risk, they will be assigned to receive either a standard or a stronger antifungal medication to see which strategy works best at preventing infections.
