Scientists hunt for genes behind shoulder injuries

NCT ID NCT04831164

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks for genetic differences that may make some people more likely to have rotator cuff tears or affect how well they heal. Researchers will compare DNA from 3,500 adults with and without shoulder tears, all confirmed by MRI. The goal is to better understand why tears happen and why some treatments work better for certain people.
