Can brain scans predict teen depression before it starts?

NCT ID NCT01743716

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study followed 100 healthy girls aged 12-14 and their mothers for six months to see if brain activity and genetics can predict depression. The girls had interviews, computer tasks, saliva tests, and an fMRI brain scan. The goal was to understand early warning signs, not to test a treatment.
