Mind over knee: new study tackles fear after ACL surgery

NCT ID NCT05949177

First seen Nov 14, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether a program combining graded exposure (slowly facing feared movements) and mindfulness meditation can help people who had ACL knee surgery feel less afraid of re-injury. About 50 participants, aged 14 to 35, who had surgery 6 months to 10 years ago will be compared to a waitlist group. The goal is to reduce fear and anxiety, not to cure the injury.
