Mind over knee: new study tackles fear after ACL surgery

NCT ID NCT05949177

First seen Nov 14, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether a program combining gradual exposure to feared movements and mindfulness meditation can help people who had ACL knee surgery feel less afraid of re-injury. Researchers will compare the program to a waitlist group in 50 participants aged 14-35 who are 6 months to 10 years post-surgery. The goal is to reduce fear and improve reaction time, not to cure the injury.
