Can ultrasound prevent lung infections in patients on Weight-Loss drugs?

NCT ID NCT06666049

First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests if a simple stomach ultrasound can help doctors decide how to manage breathing tubes during surgery for patients taking GLP-1 drugs (like Ozempic). These medications can slow stomach emptying, raising the risk of food or liquid entering the lungs. About 39 adults scheduled for surgery will get an ultrasound to measure stomach contents, aiming to prevent aspiration pneumonia.
