Colonoscopy sedation study reveals brain impact in seniors

NCT ID NCT07384169

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at 164 adults aged 65 and older who had a colonoscopy with sedation. Researchers wanted to see if frailty and the type of sedative used (propofol or dexmedetomidine) affected their thinking skills. Participants took a mini mental test before and after the procedure. The goal was to learn more, not to test a new treatment.
