Poop pills from super donors could ease IBS symptoms

NCT ID NCT06171126

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether the choice of stool donor affects how well fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) works for people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Five hundred participants with moderate-to-severe IBS will receive either their own stool (placebo) or stool from one of three different donors. The goal is to see if symptoms improve and if changes in gut bacteria are linked to donor selection.
