NCT ID NCT06171126

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) from different donors can reduce symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Five hundred adults with moderate-to-severe IBS will receive either a placebo (their own stool) or stool from one of three donors, delivered via a tube into the upper intestine. Researchers will track symptom changes, gut bacteria, and quality of life over 12 months to see if donor selection matters.
