Old drug, new trick: fluvoxamine may shield seniors from Post-Surgery delirium

NCT ID NCT06969287

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether fluvoxamine, a drug typically used for depression, can reduce the risk of delirium (sudden confusion) in older adults after non-cardiac surgery. Researchers will enroll 46 people to see if the approach is feasible and safe. If successful, it could lead to a larger trial to confirm the benefit.
