First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tested whether the antidepressant fluoxetine can reduce depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues in adults recovering from serious bone injuries requiring surgery. Over half of such patients develop lasting mental health problems. The trial enrolled 55 adults and measured mood, sleep, and PTSD symptoms. The goal was to see if a simple, short-term medication could help when talk therapy alone is not enough.
