Flu shot may calm arteries after heart attack, new trial hopes

NCT ID NCT06336317

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether getting a flu vaccine outside of flu season can reduce inflammation in the arteries of people who recently had a heart attack. About 90 participants will receive either the flu vaccine or a placebo, and doctors will use special CT scans to measure artery inflammation 8 weeks later. The goal is to see if the vaccine can help control the body's inflammatory response after a heart attack.
