Gene test could spare prostate cancer patients from major surgery

Summary
This study tests a new way to choose prostate cancer treatment. Instead of treating the whole prostate, doctors will use genetic tests to decide if a patient can have focal therapy—which targets only the cancer—or needs more aggressive treatment like surgery or radiation. The goal is to see if this personalized approach lowers the chance of cancer coming back while reducing side effects. About 130 men with early-stage prostate cancer will take part.
