Gene test could spare prostate cancer patients from major surgery

NCT ID NCT07282808

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a genetic test can help decide the best treatment for men with prostate cancer. Instead of treating the whole prostate, doctors may only treat the cancerous spots (focal therapy) to reduce side effects. The trial will check if men with certain genetic markers have a very low chance of cancer coming back after focal therapy, helping avoid more aggressive treatments like surgery or radiation.
