Could a stool test replace colonoscopy for cancer surveillance?
NCT ID NCT06983639
First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a simple stool test (FIT) is as good as colonoscopy for monitoring people who have had polyps removed from their colon. About 4,000 participants will be assigned to either regular FIT tests or colonoscopy to see if the stool test can catch new cancers just as well. The goal is to make follow-up easier and more accessible without increasing cancer risk.
