Fish oil before heart surgery may prevent dangerous irregular heartbeat

Summary
This study tests whether giving fish oil before heart surgery can prevent a common complication called atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) in high-risk patients. About 550 adults having elective heart surgery will receive either fish oil or a placebo (salt water) through an IV. The goal is to see if fish oil helps patients recover faster and spend less time on a breathing machine.
