Scans for heroes: new study aims to catch Firefighters' cancers early

Summary
This study offers low-dose chest CT scans to 1,200 California firefighters to check for early signs of lung cancer and other work-related lung diseases. Firefighters face higher cancer risks from smoke and chemical exposure, but current screening guidelines don't fully account for these job hazards. Participants get one scan and provide health and work history, with follow-up for up to 10 years to track results and build better screening methods for this high-risk group.
