Cheering may reveal why fibromyalgia patients feel so tired
NCT ID NCT06778681
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether problems with brain cells that control movement cause fatigue in fibromyalgia. Researchers compared 37 women (some with fibromyalgia, some healthy) by measuring muscle signals during foot exercises, including when they were cheered on. The goal was to see if cheering affects these signals differently in fibromyalgia patients, which could point to a brain-based cause of fatigue.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could point toward new ways to understand and treat fatigue in fibromyalgia.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, completed observational study with only 37 participants. It does not test a treatment, so results may not lead to direct therapies.
