New hope for babies with severe seizures: fenfluramine trial opens

Summary

This study tests the drug fenfluramine in children aged 12 to 36 months whose infantile spasms have not improved with standard treatments. Over 21 days, researchers will check if the drug stops the spasms and improves brain wave patterns. Children who respond well may continue treatment for up to 6 months.
