First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests whether transplanting healthy bacteria from donor stool can prevent severe confusion (hepatic encephalopathy) in people who have had a liver shunt procedure (TIPS) and still get brain fog despite standard medicines. Forty adults will be randomly assigned to receive either a fecal transplant or a placebo. The goal is to see if the treatment is safe and reduces repeat episodes of brain fog.
