Could longer fasting make common procedures safer for millions on popular Weight-Loss drugs?
NCT ID NCT07006142
Summary
This study aims to find a safer way to prepare patients taking GLP1 receptor agonists (like Ozempic or Wegovy) for upper endoscopy procedures. Researchers want to see if having patients fast for a longer period before the procedure reduces leftover stomach contents, which could lower the risk of breathing in stomach material (aspiration). They will compare different fasting times in 150 patients undergoing elective endoscopy to gather safety data for future medical guidelines.
