New scan could reveal hidden heart damage in protein buildup disease
NCT ID NCT07549841
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests a new type of PET scan that uses a special tracer to see active scarring in the heart. It aims to help doctors better stage transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis, a condition where protein buildup causes heart failure. About 40 adults with this disease will get the scan to see if it can tell how severe the disease is and who is getting worse despite treatment.
