New scan could reveal hidden heart damage in Protein-Buildup disease
NCT ID NCT07549841
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests a special PET scan that uses a tracer called [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 to see how active scarring is in the hearts of people with transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis, a disease where abnormal protein builds up and weakens the heart. About 40 adults with this condition will get the scan to see if it can better show how severe the disease is and which patients are getting worse despite treatment. The goal is to find a new way to guide personalized care, not to treat the disease itself.
