Eye workouts may steady the steps of children with cerebral palsy
NCT ID NCT07731074
First seen Jul 28, 2026 · Last updated Jul 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether structured eye-movement exercises can improve balance and motor skills in children aged 6 to 10 with spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. Participants perform exercises like tracking moving targets and shifting gaze quickly, alongside standard physical therapy. Researchers measure changes in postural stability and motor proficiency to see if training the eyes can strengthen the brain's visual-motor pathways and lead to better control of movement.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- oculomotor training exercises
- What this could lead to
- If effective, eye-movement exercises could become a simple, low-cost addition to physical therapy for children with cerebral palsy, helping improve balance and daily movement.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 34 children. The exercises may not lead to meaningful improvements, and results may not apply to all children with cerebral palsy.
