Why ICU survivors stay weak: new study probes hidden heart and muscle damage

Summary
This study looks at why many people who survive a serious illness in the ICU develop lasting muscle weakness. Researchers will test the heart and blood flow of 50 former ICU patients during exercise. The goal is to better understand the problem, not to test a new treatment.
