Sweat before you talk: new study tests Exercise-Boosted therapy for depression

NCT ID NCT07221929

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at whether doing moderate aerobic exercise right before a therapy session (CBT) helps people with major depression get more out of their treatment. One hundred adults will be randomly assigned to either exercise or rest quietly before each of 8 weekly therapy sessions. Researchers will measure how strong the bond with the therapist feels, how active and engaged people become, and how much their depression symptoms improve.
